A new homeless shelter.which opened its doors in Pierrefonds on Dec. 21, will expand its hours this week.

The West Island Warming Centre, located at 5100 Château-Pierrefonds Ave., will be open seven days a week until March 31.

As of Jan. 8, the centre will be open from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., instead of 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

“We have between two to four people each night, for the moment. We are hoping to welcome more when we will open earlier,” project manager Caroline Turpin-Emond told the Gazette on Monday.
