Ontario is investing $1.5 million in an affordable housing project in Aylmer that will help address the community’s lack of housing options, the town’s mayor says.

The money, announced Tuesday, will support construction of 23 apartment units, a dozen of which will be priced at 20 per cent below market rent in the community east of St. Thomas.

“Homelessness and a lack of affordable housing is a serious issue right across Ontario,” said MPP Jeff Yurek (Elgin–Middlesex–London), who is also the environment minister.
