Chris Peacock likens poverty to a “dizzying, crazy hurricane.”

“When people are in it, it’s so hard to get out,” said the executive director of The Sharing Place Food Bank.

Which is why when Peacock learned Ontario’s Progressive Conservative government was cancelling the province’s basic income pilot project, his reaction was one of shock.

“This would have provided that foundation, that strong foundation to be able to stand on,” he told “Instead, it’s crumbling at all times for them.”
