Collingwood’s Out of the Cold shelter is set to open its doors in December.

Located on Peel Street, the 12-bed shelter will give homeless individuals in south Georgian Bay a place to sleep and a warm meal.

However, a group of neighbours is concerned about the proximity of the shelter to Connaught Public School, which is right next door.

“I’m just concerned with the safety,” said Bev Kennedy, who lives across the road from the school and the shelter. “I don’t think in a school zone is a place for an Out of the Cold program.”
