Re: ‘It’s a cat-and-mouse game’: Durham police clear out large Oshawa tent city, news, July 31

We are all one really bad day from ending up on the streets. Whether you care to believe it or not, security is not guaranteed in our day to day lives. So before we start referring to the homeless as “them versus us” start thinking about who you might be speaking about. Husbands, wives, brothers and sisters, children and the vulnerable of all ages live on these streets. Our streets. Living in tent communities where they can, before getting kicked out by law enforcement. Living day to day with no certainty at all, no security whatsoever, and the threat of hunger, disease, and violence being an ever present reality.
