At the start of 2018, minimum wage in Ontario will jump to $14 per hour and employers will be mandated to pay seasonal employees the same wage as full-time staffers if they’re doing the same work.
These are a few of the changes that Bill 148 will bring to workplaces in the province come the new year. The bill, also called the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, achieved royal assent on Nov. 27.
On Friday afternoon, Guelph MPP Liz Sandals introduced the new act at a news conference at the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health building on Chancellors Way.
