Municipal and provincial politicians have weighed in on the development of a tent city in front of Prince Rupert City Hall.

Concerned residents set up the tents Wednesday to provide shelter and raise awareness about homelessness and affordable housing in the city.

Mayor Lee Brain says Prince Rupert’s rental market is still seeing the effects of LNG-related speculation that saw many tenants reno-victed as property owners sought to sell their homes as property values increased from 2012-2017.
